Summer Siesta

I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer thus far.  I can't believe that school begins for many over the next few weeks.  I've still got till September 20th for my classes to begin and I'm trying to the rest of my summer to the fullest.

I had a major hiccup in my summer of fun as I was in a terrible car accident last month.  I've been slowly recovering but I'll tell you that I was quite (still am a little) traumatized by it.  I don't want to talk about it but I must say that lately, I've been more in tune with how everyone around me drives and let me tell you--people drive CRAZY!  There was a point where I never wanted to drive again.  After all, when a person slams into you at over 40mph and you're going less than 10mph, well, it kind of hurts.

The weather has been incredibly warm and humid here in So Cal.  I know it's nothing to complain about compared to other parts of the country.  I was in Arizona last week and oh my, I was in 115F weather.  That is quite nasty!  And unfortunately, there was nowhere to go after dinner.  For example, if I'm home, I'll want to go for an evening walk at the beach and feel the cool ocean breeze.  There's nothing like that in Arizona as there was no such thing as a breeze!  Constant heat blaring at you.  I will admit it was more tolerable when in the shade than directly under the sun.  However, all that was worth it because I got to see my dear friend, Addie, a gal whom I used to be BFFs with in high school.  It's crazy how our lives change, progress, and how we grow up after high school.

I'm digressing.  I thought I'd give a little update and say that The Chef Doc is going on a Summer Siesta.  I'm off to Miami this coming Friday for a 10-day vacation that is definitely much needed.  Although, if I think the humidity here is crazy then I'm sure I'll have to do a little adjusting in Miami.  There are isolated thunderstorms expected every day.  Oh joy.  Anyone have any tips for Miami and Fort Lauderdale?  I've not been to Florida in oh, at least 20 years?  I'm looking forward to it :-)

Please stay hydrated, stay cool, have lots of fun, and continue making and eating scrumptious delights!

XOXO,
Hester

  3. Sending healing thoughts your way, I hope your friends and family are preparing you, your favorite comfort dishes. It does take awhile to want to drive again, and then even after that you will always be more in tuned with all the idiots out there. Oh excuse me, I mean fellow drivers. Now I say this whenever someone acts as though they do not see me, May God bless you and give your wisdom, yelling.
