I am currently eating a cold slice of apple pie. I made apple pie yesterday but didn't get to have any till today. Besides, I prefer to eat mine cold. I know--I'm weird. Yup, stick it in the fridge and I'll happily take a slice. Anyway, I must say, it is super-duper delicious with rum, lemon zest, and brown sugar inside ;-) And the double crust that I made tastes like the store-bought apple pie crust I love; I find this a huge feat!
Although, I think it's too sweet because I believe my mother's taste buds have gone out the window and she "made" me put way too much sugar in there. "No, add a little more salt, cinnamon, and a little more sugar. That should do it." After adjusting it a little more (with frustration), "No, it needs some more cinnamon, sugar, and salt." AHHHHHHH! You can totally hear this conversation in your head, right? That's my mother for ya!

A little lackadaisical about my blogging this week, this morning I received the perfect push. Ramona over at Curry and Comfort tagged me to be involved in this "7 Links" activity and I think it's a great thing to participate in. Thank you, Ramona, for nominating me! I'm stealing the rules from Tina at My Life as a Mrs. (thanks, Tina!)
1. Blogger is nominated to take part.
2. Blogger publishes his/her seven links on his/her blog, one link for each category.
3. Blogger nominates up to five bloggers to take part.
4. Said bloggers will publish their own seven links and nominate five other bloggers.
5. We'll be sharing the best posts from participating bloggers on our blog and everyday on Facebook and Twitter at #My7Links
1. MOST BEAUTIFUL POST
Angry Shrimp Pasta. This is one of my favorite dishes and the post itself celebrates my mother, who had her birthday on the day I wrote the post. It is muy caliente and unexpected, just like her! This woman gave me life and gosh, it's crazy the similarities that there are between us. But, I am also thankful that there are quite a few differences and it is these differences that keep our relationship spunky as we become like the angry shrimp pasta--spicy and hot-tempered!
2. MOST POPULAR POST
Best. Chicken. Pot. Pie. Ever. I cannot argue with everyone out there--this pot pie is simply scrumptious and out-of-this-world good! There's a reason it is the highest-viewed post on here. And I also thank everyone for making it #1 on Foodbuzz's Top 9 last week!
3. MOST CONTROVERSIAL POST
Annabelle Carrot Cupcakes. What do you call a controversial post on a website dedicated to food? If there is one I've wondered about, it was my letter to Annabelle in this post. As a blogger, I sometimes wonder where to draw the line between sharing my personal/private life with the world. Again, I do thank those of you who sent your well wishes to me and my family, especially Annabelle's.
4. MOST HELPFUL POST
Gettin' Down and Dirty. While I have many recipes that come with step-by-step picture instructions (don't you love me for that?), I believe that these picture instructions for Green Onion Pancakes (this will take you to the actual recipe) are super helpful. When you see the steps and hand work that go into making these pancakes, you'll really thank me for washing my hands after each one to take a picture for you and then getting them dirty again to move onto the next step ;-) You're welcome!
5. POST WHOSE SUCCESS SURPRISED YOU
Creamed Mushrooms and Kale. Who would have known that this dish would intrigue so many people? I thought I was merely sharing a tasty side dish that I made. The best part is that it was super simple to make. It certainly is tasty and vegetarian-friendly. However, perhaps not the most diet-friendly. There are different ways to lighten it up but a little luxury won't kill you :-)
6. POST THAT DIDN'T GET THE ATTENTION IT DESERVED
Linguine and Clams. Perhaps the reason this didn't get much attention was because I made it before I joined Foodbuzz. It's an awesome dish that I absolutely loved making. It was so incredibly easy to make and super tasty! Muy delicioso. Maybe I'll make it again soon :-) It's funny to see how I wrote and styled my blog a year ago. Even my photography was different. I'm glad that I've actually come into an actual pattern so that people know what to expect from my website.
7. POST YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF
Frittata Papa. I'm proud of this dish because it really embodies what I love about food--its simplicity, delicious flavors, and the ability to make you smile. I think all people should feel that way about food. And you receive even greater pleasure when you yourself are the one who created such a beautiful dish. There's that saying that there are people who eat to live and people who live to eat. I am definitely one of the latter :-)
And the happy bloggers whom I'm proud to pass this onto are:
